La scaletta di 68 brani è stata compilata da un vero esperto come David Nathan detto "The Ambassador Of Soul", cofondatore nel '68 dell'etichetta Soul City, collaboratore negli anni '70 della rivista "Blues & Soul", autore del libro "The Soulful Divas" e in tempi recenti titolare dell'altra etichetta SoulMusic. Attingendo agli archivi della Warner Music e delle sue moltepici etichette (ATCO, Atlantic, Calla, Cotillion, Elektra, Reprise, Warner Bros. e altre), Nathan ha assemblato una antologia che include grandi hit internazionali come "Rock Steady" di Aretha Franklin, "I'm Every Woman" di Chaka Khan, "Young Hearts Run Free" di Candi Staton e "Wishing On A Star" dei Rose Royce accanto a gemme Northern Soul come "Both Ends Against The Middle" di Jackie Moore, "Send Him Back" delle Pointer Sisters, "Love Don't You Go Through No Changes On Me" delle Sister Sledge e "Take Your Love And Run" di Barbara Lynn e a funky riempipista come la title track "Keep The Fire Burning" di Gwen McCrae e "Bad For Me" di Dee Dee Bridgewater.
